Prof. Muzaherul Huq a medical graduate of Dhaka University. He has done his Membership as Post graduation in Forensic Medicine from Bangladesh College of Physicians & Surgeons. Pursued specialization in Forensic Pathology in London Hospital Medical College,UK. He also did his Masters in Medical Education from Dundee University, UK.
Postgraduate diploma in Development Planning is added to his qualification topping the list of successful candidates during his time.
He was a professor involved in Bangladesh in different university affiliated Medical Colleges in Bangladesh before he headed two national public organizations as Director, The Centre for Medical Education CME) & The Institute of Public Health (IPH) in Dhaka.
Prof. Huq joined WHO & served in East Timor & Nepal as HRH specialist before retiring from WHO as Regional Adviser for South East Asia.
Social Accountability of Medical Education is an area which he takes interest & working as a Task Force member of GCSA (Global Consensus on Social Accountability).
Patient Safety, Safety at workplace, Health Ethics, Doctor Patient Relationship, Health rights & Rights of Health care providers are the areas of his interest which he is promoting in South East Asia & outside the region.
He was an adviser for HRH Hub in NSW University, Australia & currently an adviser to SEARAME.
He is the Past President of South East Asia Association of Health Ethics (SEAAHE).
He was awarded International Order of Merit (IOM) & Fellowship of IAS for his contribution in promoting Medical Education in South East Asia
He is a Master Trainer of UNESCO & WHO on Ethics & Public Health
Prof.Huq is the Senior Adviser, World Federation for Medical Education
He is currently the Chairman of Public Health Foundation of Bangladesh
He is in the Review & Editorial board of many International journals of Forensic Medicine & Medical Education & has a number of publication of scientific articles in his credit in national & international journals. He participates in International conferences on Forensic Science, Public Health, Medical Education, Human Rights and Ethics as one the key note speaker in these branches of Sciences representing Bangladesh.
